In most wastewater treatment plants, aeration blowers are the single highest energy consumer. Yet many traditional blower technologies operate inefficiently, require frequent maintenance, and can be complex to install and manage.
The Sanitaire MAX Series turbo blower is a direct-drive, high-speed aeration blower design that utilizes advanced airfoil bearing technology to deliver exceptional energy efficiency, long service life, and reduced maintenance requirements.
Sanitaire turbo blowers also feature integrated real-time air flow measurements using a Venturi-type flow meter located at the suction bell mouth, providing airflow accuracy of +/-3%. Because the air flow meter is built into the blower, there is no need for separate air flow measurement equipment, reducing both installation costs and system complexity.
A turbo blower produces compressed air using a high-speed rotating impeller. Traditional turbo blower designs typically rely on standard motors, gearboxes, and inlet guide vanes to achieve and control high operating speeds, increasing system complexity and maintenance requirements.
The Sanitaire turbo blowers take a more advanced approach. Its direct-drive design couples with a precision-engineered impeller directly to a high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), eliminating the need for gears and enabling precise airflow control through an integrated variable frequency drive (VFD). The single stage centrifugal blower combines state-of-the-art bump type airfoil bearings; a high precision, aluminum alloy impeller; a high-speed permanent PMSM motor; an inverter driven VF; an advanced controller; and an integrated air-cooling system on most models. The result is a compact, energy-efficient blower designed for reliable, low-maintenance operation.
Designed for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants, the Sanitaire MAX Series turbo blower offers exceptional application flexibility.
Available in sizes from 7.5 to 736 kW and air flow capabilities from 300 to 40,000 m3/hr per blower, the Sanitiare turbo blower portfolio can meet oxygen demands for facilities serving approximately 5,000 to more than1.5 million population equivalent* (PE).
With a wide range of models available, systems can be sized more accurately to process requirements, helping avoid the inefficiencies and unnecessary costs associated with over or under-sized equipment. .
For additional operational efficiency, Sanitaire turbo blowers can also be paired with the Sanitaire Blower Group Controller (BGC). Designed by Xylem aeration experts, the Sanitaire BGC selects the most efficient combination of duty assist and standby blowers to deliver the required air volume. This intelligent control strategy helps optimize energy consumption while simplifying blower operation and system management.
