Xylem supports Gulf Specimen Marine Laboratory’s sea turtle rehabilitation program
Gulf Specimen Marine Laboratory is an independent non-for-profit sea turtle rehabilitation facility and marine life education center based in Panacea, Florida. The organization has been studying endangered species, conducting research in mariculture, as well as playing an integral role in marine research programs across the United States, Canada and Europe since 1963. Gulf Specimen Marine Laboratory also provides marine education to 20,000 school children each year.
Leading global water technology company, Xylem is working with Gulf Specimen Marine Laboratory to maintain an optimum environment for its aquatic life including sea turtles, starfish, sea urchins, conchs, crabs and sponges by providing water treatment technology at cost, as well as complementary expertise and advice.
Xylem replaced Gulf Specimen Marine Laboratory's 20 year old Wedeco PCI ozone generator technology with a new Wedeco GSO ozone system as well as providing a water gas separator and start up engineering and process optimization services.
Joel Meneely, Research, Development and Engineering Manager, Xylem said, "We worked closely with the Gulf Specimen Marine Laboratory to help them maximize efficiencies within their water treatment process – as a result we were able to provide an ozone system that met their water solution needs and was within their crowd based funding budget. We are proud to support the important work of this committed team and look forward to collaborating with them in the future."
