The best just got better: meet the new Wafer UV system

Your FAQs on the Wafer UV system answered

Today, operators need more than high performance disinfection technology. They need systems that reliably deliver results, while helping cut costs, minimising maintenance, and supporting sustainability goals. The new Wafer UV system is the perfect example of this. It remains the most compact and powerful medium pressure UV disinfection system but now with an enhanced design, it delivers superior performance and more. To explain, Tony Leigh, Global Product Manager, Xylem, answers some of the frequently asked questions on this next-generation UV system.

We’ve designed an upgrade to the Wafer UV system that delivers superior performance and operational efficiency. But that’s not all. Our engineers have created a system that’s even lighter, simpler to install, quicker to maintain, smarter and even easier to use. Importantly, this helps users save time, costs and increase the sustainability of their operations.

Stand out features for the newer model include higher lamp power, which increases flow capacity by up to 33%. Then we have the full single-ended chamber and flexible mounting options that simplify installation and allow the system to fit into even tighter spaces. The new stainless-steel wiper brush to resist fouling and harsh conditions, means more consistent performance over the system’s lifetime and extended service intervals. Critically, our Wafer UV systems are third-party validated and certified to regional and global standards, ensuring compliance.

Yes! Firstly, you’re going to save costs when it comes to installation as its simpler to install. As well as the flexible mounting options, which allow the system to fit into even tighter spaces, the pre-terminated cables and a simplified UL508A-compliant panel design minimise complexity and speed up commissioning. Then reduced maintenance requirements are going to help lower costs on an ongoing basis. This is in part down to the system’s fewer seals and robust components, as well as the innovative Twistlok™ lamps which are simple and fast to replace when needed.

The system’s increased connectivity then has the potential to save you significantly in terms of operational costs. Compatibility with Xylem Vue Secure Connect allows advanced remote monitoring, and enhanced data and analysis capabilities. Information is power, allowing you to better understand and optimise the system.

It’s now easier than ever to upgrade your UV technology. The Wafer UV system has been designed for ease of use from installation through to operation. This new model offers multiple mounting options, making it easier to fit into smaller spaces. So, if you’re operating a space-constrained site, that’s meant you’ve had to overlook installing other technologies to date, then the Wafer UV system is for you.

The Wafer UV system has been designed with sustainability front and centre. With the new design we’ve been able to optimise manufacturing, packaging, and transportation. One of the key ways we’ve done this is with the 15-20% weight reduction of the chamber, which reduces environmental impact at every point from manufacture through to transportation. When it comes to operation, the variable power output enables optimisation for lower energy consumption. And we can’t overlook the impact of reduced maintenance – less parts wastage and engineering time is saved.

Through Xylem Vue Secure Connect compatibility, users have an even greater level of control. Data can easily be reviewed and system parameters adjusted for the most efficient operation.

It’s very easy to control and manage. The Wafer UV system requires no intensive staff training, or regular daily attention. If your team has worked with any of our previous UV units, then the new Wafer UV system will seem familiar. If not, then be assured it’s simple and intuitive to use. And, don’t forget, all our systems are backed by Xylem’s ongoing global service and support if you ever need it – you’re not on your own.
