Stillorgan Reservoir disinfection upgrade
Whilst residual chlorination is relied upon to provide protection of drinking water in distribution systems, it is increasingly being supplemented by ultraviolet (UV) irradiation as a primary disinfectant for drinking water treatment. As a chemical-free process it avoids many of the issues associated with hazardous oxidising disinfectants and does not generate disinfection by-products. It is also effective against microbiological pollutants such as protozoa, that are resistant to chlorine.

Vermont town of 450 removes PFOA from drinking water well
The source of the contaminated water was located approximately 250 meters away from the municipal well, at a former industrial site. Upon learning of the elevated test results, the state issued a “do not drink” order to the 450 residents served by the municipal water supply until the water source could pass quality testing again.

Water agency removes arsenic from groundwater supply
A public water agency in California contacted Evoqua to treat remove arsenic from a groundwater supply. They needed to achieve a 1 ppb effluent level from the treatment system, 90% lower than the current drinking water standard in California. In addition they needed to have the treatment operating within weeks.

Water plant removes manganese and improves turbidity
This 10 million gallons per day drinking water plant gets its raw water source from a 151,000 acre-feet reservoir situated at an elevation of 5430 ft. The water intake is through a tunnel at a depth of 200 feet. The intake does not have provisions for the withdrawal of water from multiple levels in the reservoir.

Mobile equipment helps mining operation meet metal limits
In order to expand operations and maintain a water balance in South Carolina’s wet climate, Nevada Goldfields’ Barite Hills gold mining operation required a treatment plant to handle its wastewater. At this mining site, the company extracts gold from soil using a high pH cyanide leaching solution. The process generated large volumes of cyanide and metal laden wastewater, which they had been storing on-site.
