Xylem's Smith-Blair Top Bolt® 2 Bolt Coupling System (421/422) accommodates a wide range of pipe ODs and joins a wide range of pipe diameters. To better suit your specific project, Top Bolt couplings are available in two sleeve lengths: 421 standard or 422 long sleeve.
Each coupling is made with a carbon steel sleeve and carbon steel flanges with a corrosion resistant Flexi-Coat® Fusion Bonded Epoxy Finish. The armor is half hard 304 Stainless Steel, and the gasket is Nitrile (Buna N). Bolts are Type 304 Stainless Steel with Flexi-Coat® Fusion Bonded Epoxy Finish, while nuts are heavy hex Type 304 Stainless Steel with fluoropolymer finish to prevent galling. The entire unit features a Flexi-Coat® Fusion Bonded Epoxy Finish for corrosion resistance.
The Top Bolt 2 Bolt Coupling System is rated for up to 260 PSI working pressure. Pipe applications include Steel, PVC, Ductile Iron, Asbestos Cement and Copper tube sizes, and HDPE* with insert. Available sizes include 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, and 24 inches and oversize versions of 10", 12", 16", and 24". The coupling reduces inventory with a wide range, up to 1.31 inches, and allows deflection of 4° per end.
Installation is easy with only one bolt on each end to tighten and stab insertion of pipe ends. The coupling features a removable inner gasket for larger O.D.s and can be easily disassembled when necessary. The bi-directional inner gasket can be reinstalled, and the corrugated armor reduces friction between gasket and armor, allowing better gasket seating while preventing armor from gouging flange finish and reducing possible corrosion points. Epoxy coated 304 Stainless Steel hardware and fluoropolymer coated nuts reduce galling, and anode connectors are available for additional corrosion protection.
This product does not restrain pipe movement. Proper anchoring is required to prevent pipe pullout. Failure to anchor or improper anchoring can result in dangerous pipe content escape, property damage, serious injury, or death. Users must read the product installation instructions prior to installing this product.
