Jayanthi Iyengar named Senior Vice President and Chief Innovation and Technology Officer for Xylem Inc.

RYE BROOK, N.Y., June 15, 2015 – Xylem Inc. (NYSE: XYL), a leading global water technology company, today announced that Jayanthi (Jay) Iyengar has joined the Company as Senior Vice President and Chief Innovation and Technology Officer, effective June 12, 2015.  In this newly created position, Iyengar will lead the Company’s global R&D, technology and innovation activities.  Reporting to Xylem President and Chief Executive Officer, Patrick Decker, she will work closely with the senior leadership team to evaluate the technological landscape and accelerate the Company’s customer-driven innovation agenda to drive growth. Iyengar will be based at the Company’s global headquarters in Rye Brook, N.Y.

Iyengar joins Xylem from Eaton Corporation, a global power management company, where she most recently served as Group Vice President, Engineering and Technology for the company’s Aerospace Group, and Chief Technology Officer.  In that role, she forged strategic relationships with external constituencies to develop and align Eaton’s technology portfolio with customers’ current and future needs. She also led the global engineering organization charged with the complete product life cycle.  Previously, Iyengar held a series of increasingly responsible leadership roles over her 15 years at Chrysler Group, including Global Director, Electrified Powertrain and Senior Manager and Chief Engineer, Hybrid Development Center.  She has also served on the board of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society.

Iyengar earned a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Mysore University in Karnataka, India, and two Master’s degrees in mechanical engineering, one from Indian Institute of Technology in Mumbai and the other from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
