Part 1. Describe the Position
The Regional Strategic/tactical Buyer will support the category management efforts in Consulting, HR and Legal service Supplies across the Emerging Markets, and XYLEM India Indirect Category Sourcing/purchasing activities. Responsibilities include managing supplier relations, monitoring supplier performance, and driving supplier continuous improvement and productivity activities. Take a lead role in regional procurement initiatives and strategy deployment, identifying and implementing non-production related cost reduction opportunities for XYLEM India, supporting global indirect sourcing team in collaborating and implementing projects, execute the indirect sourcing goals and objectives.
This position will also include a cross sites working relationship with site operations, quality, and local procurement stakeholders. Contribute to Idea Generation sessions with multifunctional team members to fill-in the saving projects funnel including Value Analysis & Value Engineering projects including localization, if required.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
- Contribute to supply chain development of assigned key categories with RFQ, communication, follow up, negotiations, Statement of Work, LOI, contracts etc.
- Negotiate and manage strategic contracts to deliver value and mitigate risk to our business.
- Manage the majority of the day-to-day purchasing operations in Xylem India sites. Typical duties include facilitating supplier setups, processing POs and partnering with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure effective procurement processes are followed.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to identify and support cost reduction projects including continuous improvements initiatives and follow through to completion to support category targets.
- Develop key supplier relationships and enhance collaboration for Xylem.
- Work with engineering to develop new and alternative suppliers.
- Work with site stakeholders to support various projects, deadlines, or daily purchasing needs.
- Analyze reports and perform research e.g. reasons or causes for cost deviation, escalate and collaborate with internal stakeholders i.e. Planning, Finance, Engineering as required.
- Contribute to localization and outsourcing projects; working with supplier during the transition and support the implementation at receiving site.
- Manage supplier bidding events and business awarding.
- Provides purchasing support as needed or defined by manager across the region.
- Active involvement in Value added/Value Engineering projects.
- Project specific work across sites as assigned.
- Work with the Global Category Leaders to develop long term category strategy to drive improvements and deliver value for the organization.
- Actively search information about financial status, legal irregularities, sustainability and other aspects for suppliers that might harm Xylem as a cooperation partner and customer.
- In a professional way represent Xylem to external suppliers.

Part 2. Describe the Person
Minimum professional and educational background desired (include years of experience).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, supply Chain Management, or technical engineering degree
- At least 5-6 years Consulting, HR and Legal service procurement experience.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Logical / Process oriented thinker.
- Good verbal (primarily presentations and telephone) and written communications skills in English.
- Good Computer Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), must have ERP experience.
- Ability to travel as requested, maximum 30%,Valid passport and Visa
- Positive “can do” attitude.
