In Germany and Switzerland, there are currently discussions on the implementation of an additional treatment step at municipal wastewater treatment plants for the elimination of micropollutants. Within an internal research project with a pilot plant activated carbon and ozonation was thoroughly investigated with regard to cleaning efficiency and total costs.
