The Central Regional Sales Manager will be responsible for developing and executing the sales plan performance for the Central Region in our Environmental market.  The Xylem Analytics Environmental products provide high quality, high resolution data to better understand and manage our water resources. They are used for climate change and drought studies, flood monitoring and warning, stormwater runoff monitoring, groundwater quantification and contamination, aquaculture production and source water safety. This role will be responsible for driving growth of the Environmental Central Region business through the management of the Territory Sales Specialists and channel partners.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:  To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   

  • Develops a business plan and sales strategy that ensures attainment of sales goals.
  • Maintain communication with supervisor, marketing, support, and other inter-company personnel to achieve sales quota and meet goals and objectives set for the business.
  • Responsible for recruiting, hiring, and retaining top talent along with quarterly performance reviews.
  • Organize sales training for representatives in order to identify target markets, address competitive technologies, and outline proper business strategies for our Environmental products and services.
  • Responsible for the performance and development of direct and distribution sales channels.
  • Travel to potential project locations to consult with customers, assist direct reports, and sell proposals.
  • Maintains a high level of product knowledge of both the company’s and competitive products.
  • Provides to management a sales forecast and business report for the region on a monthly basis.
  • Drive Sales Growth through utilization of the Customer Relationship Management software (currently SalesForce).
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and company’s code of conduct and ensures that where appropriate company policies are communicated to selling partners.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be required based on organization needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience with multiple years of sales and/or consulting experience in the Environmental Outdoor Monitoring market.  
  • Multiple years’ experience managing sales teams and channels, preferably within the analytical instrumentation or Environmental engineering/consulting market.
  • Relationships within and product/application knowledge of instrumentation related to outdoor water quality and/or quantity monitoring.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Solid interpersonal, organizational, and managerial skills.
  • Sound understanding of business principles including contract negotiation, sales planning, market development, sales channel management, and business modeling.
  • Familiarity with the market, key accounts, competitors, and legislation impacting sales of company product.

DAY IN THE LIFE:

In this role, the working environment is from a remote office with occasional work outdoors, including on or near the water with the possibilities of weather extremities and the use of PPE and the physical demands may include but not limited to regularly sitting, standing, lifting up to 20 lbs.  In addition, this role may have 50% overnight travel by car and plane, as required to support sales channels, achieve sales quota, and to meet goals and objectives set for the sales team.

SALARY:

The estimated salary range for this position is $85,000 to $115,000 plus bonus.   Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.  At Xylem we offer a competitive compensation package with a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, Vision plans, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement.
