JOB OBJECTIVE

 

The Applications Engineer is responsible for the preparation of high quality, competitive design / tenders for multiple Biological Treatment GC core products, processes and services along with small, medium and large “Package” projects including multi disciplined project proposals and solutions. Supporting follow up sales work and support to CTs in negotiating and communicating with customers.

 

Build and grow market share using effective partnering with the assigned CTs, involving coordinated sales, marketing, training and business development activities.  

 

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Coordination and preparation of proposals and bid documents, primarily in the EMEA region but also supporting globally as required by the business.
  • Attend site visits / audits to establish project needs in order to assist bid development.
  • Customer visits to end users and contractors in order to understand tender requirements during the bid.
  • Prepare design concepts to CT & customers.
  • Preparation of system costings for municipal and industrial applications.
  • Support preparation of PID’s, GA´s and other Sales drawings.
  • Assist with the development of sales presentations and proposals.
  • Responsible for regular tracking proposals / projects in coordination with Commercial Teams (e.g. SOP funnel calls).
  • Support CT‘s during DOA processes.
  • Conduct trainings to Commercial teams, distributors and consultants in agreement with PM.
  • Ensure trouble free order process / hand-over to order execution team.
  • Identify new sales opportunities.
  • Represent company at trade fairs, association meetings and conferences.
  • Close collaboration with CT’s to ensure high win rate on projects.
  • Liaise with other company functions to ensure achievement of objectives.

 

 

IMPACT:

Actively support the entire tender process, R&D projects, product launches, lean six sigma (LSS) projects and quality management.

 

COMMUNICATION:

Internal communication to all departments. External communication to customers, suppliers and other interested parties.

 

 

INNOVATION:

Regular and active participation to meetings, Conferences, R&D and Roadmap workshops.

 

KNOWLEDGE:

Manage and lead team through professional standard knowledge of all job areas. Drive processes proactive, dynamic and straightforward. The position needs to be approachable to all required areas.

DECISION MAKING AUTHORITIES

 

The Application Engineer is not required to decide about disciplinary actions. Technical and commercial aspects are within the assigned area of responsibility, limits of existing DoAs and Integral Management System (IMS).

Internal: Xylem Management, R&D, Project Management, Product Management, Order Execution, Quality, Commercial Teams (CT’s).

 

External: Consulting Engineering Firms, Regulatory Authorities, Representatives/Partners, Customers.

REQUIRED SKILLS / EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS

 

Degree in chemical, mechanical , process or environmental engineering;

Experience in sales, engineering, product development, product management with Biological and/or Filtration technologies and/or other Water and Wastewater treatment technologies,

Leadership/management experience,

Language skills (English),

Experience in working in an international environment.

Ability and willingness for international travel at reasonable extend.
