Providing food to out-of-work restaurant & hospitality workers

Approximately 370,000 restaurant and hospitality workers in North Carolina are currently out of work due to #COVID-19 related closures.  Compared to the general population these workers are disproportionately low-income and now designated a highly vulnerable population in this time of economic insecurity.

The Carolina Farm Stewardship Association (CFSA) has been working hard to distribute weekly boxes of fresh produce and meat from local food hubs and farmers to help feed out-of-work restaurant and hospitality industry workers in North Carolina. Through our local partner Wake Electric Membership Corporation, our grant to CFSA will be able to provide two months of food to 2,500 former restaurant and hospitality employee participants in the Charlotte and Triangle regions of North Carolina.
