“For us, it starts with data” – Austin Alexander , VP Xylem Sustainability and social impact
Water is at the very center of global climate change risk. As climate change creates greater hydrological variation around the world, policymakers, regulators and the public are increasingly looking to utility providers to do more to solve critical water challenges for your communities today, and to mitigate growing problems that threaten the future.
The water sector also has an important role to play in the mitigation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
It is our responsibility to work with our suppliers to make sure we capture the water usage and GHG emissions in our supply chain; that we partner to continously improve our performance against science-based targets.
Xylem recognizes the importance of Supplier Diversity. We are committed to making it part of our strategic sourcing process by providing opportunities for diverse businesses to participate as partners and suppliers in goods and services. The program proactively seeks to reflect the diversity of our communities and customers we serve. When diverse businesses flourish and prosper, the communities they serve share the benefits. When our communities succeed, we all win.
Sustainability is not only the right thing for businesses to do, it is the smart thing to do. Sustainable business practices are key to building a firm foundation to deliver shared value and innovation, uphold high governance standards and drive employee engagement.
At Xylem we address Sustainability from an Opportunity and from a Risk Management perspective. In particular, we focus on Environment, Health and Safety (EHS), Human Rights, and Business Continuity topics as we qualify and evaluate our suppliers.
We can can and are committed to doing much more on this front, stay tuned!
