LCA - Sustainability Analyst
Engineering | ITC – Vadodara, Gujarat, IndiaEssential Duties/Principal Responsibilities
Product Life-Cycle analysis (80%) –
o Implement a scalable product life-cycle assessment model to measure internal (footprint) and external
(handprint) environmental impacts of our products.
o Conduct product-embodied CO2-emission calculations and deliver on industry-standard impact
categories (PCF, LCA, EPD).
o Engage product owners and engineers for the collection of data used to build the model, while building
documentation processes for data sourcing and use.
o Build quality control best practices into modeling, to assure proper interpretation and use of LCA model
outputs.
New business model and circular economy (10%) –
o Using LCA, support the team’s evaluation of the business opportunity and environmental benefits of a
possible ‘Product Takeback Program’.
o Support the assessment of the business opportunity of providing LCA information in product
specifications, including the definition of how to communicate LCA metrics to customers.
Additional Responsibilities (10%)
o Participate in Xylem’s broader sustainability programs and events, related to business sustainability
and social impacts.
o Participate in the Xylem Watermark program.
o Support and educate users of LCA model outputs, ultimately raising awareness of LCA and
sustainability among Xylem colleagues.
o Attend industry events, such as conferences and tradeshows, to stay up to date with current trends in
LCA, product sustainability/stewardship, emerging business models, etc.
o Build strong relationships with key leaders and their teams, especially in product management and
engineering, Innovation and Technology Centers of Excellence (COE), the India Technical Center
(ITC), regional vertical marketing leaders and their segment teams, sales leadership, and integrated
supply chain and CSR leaders.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environment Science/Policy, Chemistry, or similar disciplines. Preference for
a master’s degree and/or a technical degree with a focus on sustainability management.
5+ years of total experience working across multiple functions, regions and with multiple stakeholders to drive
change is required.
Preference for 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience with LCA.
Hands-on experience with LCA software such as iPoint, SimaPro, or GaBI, or other databases (Ecoinvent, etc.).
Thorough knowledge and experience with quality and compliance programs, such as ISO 14044, ISO 14067,
GHG Protocol and similar. Preferred ISO certification or other equivalent LCA certification.
Excellent PowerPoint, Excel, Power BI skills. SAP and others are an advantage.
Experience in EPD is preferred.
Passion for sustainability and implementing change; inside and outside the organization.
Product management, engineering or technical competencies related to product design, new product
development, and manufacturing processes would be an advantage.
Action and results oriented, able to communicate strategies and tactics and resolve obstacles.
Demonstrated organizational agility, with an ability to drive and execute initiatives within a matrixed environment.
Excellent writing, presentation, decision making, and negotiation skills.
Strong listening and influencing skills, as well as intercultural competence.
Oral and written fluency in English.
