Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water (DCWW) manages a large wastewater infrastructure portfolio, including approximately 2,800 pumping stations and 800 treatment works. Increased pressure from climate change and population growth has driven the need to modernise assets, build resilience, and reduce operational risks including blockages, pollution events, and flooding.

Urban development in Bromstensstaden required new, reliable wastewater pumping stations to meet increased demands on the water and wastewater system.

Safety upgrades imposed by the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) several years ago required nuclear power plants across the United States to review operations and enhance safety protocols. As a part of this process, a nuclear power plant located in the northeast of the U.S. sought an emergency back-up solution to inject cooling water into the plant reactor in the event that all other means of cooling failed.

One customer, operating a hard rock nickel mine in Ontario, needed an efficient and reliable solution to transport its mine slime from an underground sump back to the surface while ensuring continuity in production and minimizing downtime.

Stockholm’s largest pump station is situated some meters below a site which was once a 17th century palace in the middle of the city. The large flows and central location demanded reliable pumps.

The 4220 mixer comes in 1.5-, 2-, 3-, and 4-horsepower models. A four-horsepower mixer can operate at any lower power level and perform with the same high efficiency as a lower power model.

One of the ports within the Ports of Stockholm was outfitted with a Flygt pump station for the handling of sewage and grey water. To handle the large amount of waste water without clogging, a Flygt TOP pump station including N-pumps was installed.
