Appalachian Hydro Associates (AHA) in Ravenna, Kentucky, was seeking to develop a more cost-effective model for small hydro projects. AHA partnered with Berea College to offset the upfront investments, then began planning a small hydroelectric power plant at an abandoned lock chamber along the Kentucky River.
