Xylem's Smith-Blair 481 steel pipe end cap is designed to be easy to remove, reinstall, and block, making it perfect for line testing and dependable for pipe-end sealing. The primary application is capping pipe ends. This steel end cap provides a reliable solution that can be easily installed without special pipe end preparation required, ensuring efficient and effective pipe-end sealing in various applications.

The 481 features a sleeve made from ASTM A53, ASTM A513 or Carbon Steel having a minimum yield of 30,000 PSI. The end plate is constructed of mild steel with a two inch I.P. threaded outlet, with other outlet sizes available upon request. Followers are made from Ductile Iron ASTM A536 or AISI C 1020 Steel. Gaskets are Nitrile (Buna N) compounded to produce superior storage and performance characteristics, while resisting water, acids, alkalies, most (aliphatic) hydrocarbon fluids and other chemicals with a temperature range of -20°F to +180°F. Bolts and nuts are high-strength, low alloy steel with heavy, semi-finished hexagon nuts, with stainless steel available as an optional upgrade. The finish is Flexi-Coat® Fusion-Bonded Epoxy Finish.

The cap is available in sizes 2 through 20 inches, with larger sizes available upon request. Ridged pipe stiffeners are required for PE applications.
