The Role: Sensus, a Xylem brand, seeks to hire a high-energy; results oriented Strategic Sourcing Director that will own the entire vendor management process from procurement to renewal/termination across the different business units. Responsible for driving operational excellence and act as the liaison for vendor contacts. Provide leadership in the standardization of purchasing, contracting, service delivery and solutions for the organization. Direct and coordinate activities, forecasting, and performance of all vendors. Our sourcing team is involved in all phases of sourcing requiring the skills necessary to identify cost saving opportunities, creating competitive environments, creatively negotiating, generating favorable contracts and managing delivery of optimal solutions. 

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Directs and manages the Sensus North America (NA) Sourcing team.
  • Establishes the link and sponsors the collaboration and work between Xylem Global Procurement (XPG), all different NA Sensus Sites and the category management teams in NA
  • Directly responsible for the performance and results of all vendor and partner operations to support business goals.
  • Develop robust vendor relationship and maintain strategic vendor alignment with Operations and Xylem Global Procurement goals & initiatives
  • Develop, implement, and optimize vendor management processes, contracts, tools and policies to achieve performance objectives while mitigating vendor risk
  • Monitor vendor performance against contractual obligations and business requirements
  • Define, develop, and deploy sourcing strategies for all procurement categories to maximize flexibility, optimize cost and minimize risk.
  • Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify supply base issues to minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and exploit emerging opportunities that benefit the business.
  • Develop a negotiation strategy that delivers against business objectives and achieves sustainable relationships with suppliers.
  • Manage contract negotiations and relationship management for all key vendor relationships, including defining service level agreements and renegotiate, renew and discontinue supplier contracts.
  • Manage all strategic sourcing aspects on the new product introduction phases until production launch.
  • Ensure all aspects of the supply chain are considered/negotiated with each supplier (incoterms, payment terms, consignment agreements, currency exchange, etc.).
  • Develops company-wide policies and procedures, playbooks and other organizational materials with respect to national/regional sourcing.
  • Ensure performance metrics, improvement and recovery plans are developed, issued, tracked and reported.
  • Manage projects against a plan and objectives to ensure commitments and goals are met.
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement and long-term productivity
  • Provide end to end Supply Chain expertise and leadership.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or relevant field
  • Minimum of twelve (12) years of industry experience
  • Managed at least 350MUSD + in annualized spend at multiple operations and manufacturing locations.
  • Previous managerial experience.
  • Experience with Supply Chain management in an outsourced environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated commodity management expertise.
  • Experience managing contract manufacturers and electronic suppliers is a plus.
  • Proven negotiation and facilitation skills
  • Analytical, data driven approach with an attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Understanding of quality systems and processes
  • Project Management Skills
