The Role: Xylem seeks a Buyer to analyze and process authorized requisitions by establishing sources of supply and issuing financially binding purchase orders to obtain needed materials and services required by Xylem.  The Buyer will be responsible for purchases in excess of $10 million annually. The Buyer will also negotiate requirements of complex materials, supplies or services at most favorable prices consistent with quality, quantity, suitability, delivery requirements and reliability of selected sources of supply.


Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:                      

  • Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities
  • Manages supplier relationships and maintains alternative sourcing available
  • Implement sourcing strategies and supplier relationships to leverage Xylem purchases and customers’ requirements.
  • Track condition of tooling at supplier and understand when refurbishment or new tooling is warranted.
  • Create plans and achieves cost saving targets.
  • Negotiate purchase contracts with selected suppliers and follows up on delivery and quality compliance.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper inventory levels and part ordering policies in MRP software systems.
  • Analyze and interpret MRP reports and take appropriate course of actions.
  • Recommend and initiate new supply programs favorable to Xylem in areas of Production, Inventory Control, and Quality improvement.
  • Correspond with suppliers worldwide pertaining to bids, quotations, and other matters relative to purchasing. .
  • Manage suppliers to levels of delivery and quality performance required by Xylem.
  • Familiar with competitive worldwide market situations and material alternatives. Utilize this information to benchmark suppliers and processes.
  • Assist Xylem Global Procurement team with data collection, outsourcing, and communication.
  • Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Ability to read and interpret prints and drawings. Ability to understand and articulate mechanical and technical specifications
  • Promote and infuse Continuous Improvement and lean practices in through the supply chain.
  • Insure all purchasing transactions are conducted in a manner consistent with Xylem’s code of conduct.
