The Role: The Demand Planner uses a variety of data sources including Strategic input, Market conditions, Customer feedback, and Economic trends to layer into statistical modeling.  The monthly goal is to deliver an accurate, unbiased, and cross-functionally aligned 18 month rolling demand plan. A key responsibility of the Demand Planner is to develop, document, update and challenge the assumptions supporting the demand plan.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Demand Planning process for Sensus' products
  • Work with executive Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Manufacturing teams to drive demand, supply and finance plan agreement and ensure realization of business strategic business objectives
  • Coordinate with Sales, Supply Chain, and Customer Service groups to track customer order and deployment schedule changes and its impact on the demand plan
  • Coordinate cross-functionally to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect current assumptions.
  • Interact with Sales and Marketing to thoroughly understand sales pipeline, market trends, promotional activities, pricing strategies, and product lead time requirements to customers
  • Perform advanced analytics to arrive at a statistically unbiased forecast at multiple levels of aggregation and time horizons.
  • Continuously analyze, report, and evaluate forecast error rates and develop root-cause action plans to reduce forecast errors and continuously improve the process.
  • Lead the Demand review step within a SIOP / IBP (Integrated Business Planning) process for applicable products
  • Advance Demand Planning process maturity to enable improved forecast accuracy & achievement of Sales and Gross Margins for current and next fiscal year
  • Coordinate activities that ensure budgeted Sales and Gross margins are met and effectively communicated, including identifying key drivers along with the status against those drivers
  • Drive business user usage and ensure data accuracy working with Sales team
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain team to ensure appropriate forecast signals are available for long lead time material procurement and supplier capacity planning purposes
  • Coordinate prioritization of customer demand if and when there is a shortage of supply
  • Work with Operations, Sourcing and Finance to ensure forecasts material and labor costs are correct
  • Other duties as required.
  • Create statistical forecasts: Gather, analyze and validate data; Execute statistical modeling software; Review resulting statistical forecast model; Apply error analysis techniques to improve forecasting; Summarize/aggregate statistical forecasts
  • Review sales plans, financial budgets and estimates and other demand drivers: Present, solicit, and assess feedback on the various forecasts from Product Management, Sales, and Finance
  • Achieve consensus for operational demand forecasts by facilitating a collaborative planning process with marketing sales, and finance personnel: Prepare relevant material to facilitate research and discussion.
  • Provide input to volume planning (latest estimates / annual process): Facilitate monthly demand review meetings.
  • Maintain demand planning system and software: Enter and modify data to ensure a good statistical forecast.  Evaluate and maintain outlier demand. Monitor trends in forecast error; Identify relevant market-related data and competitive intelligence.

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8 years of experience in Demand Planning, Product Management or Supply Chain, with significant experience in planning, statistics or data analytics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters or MBA degree in Supply Chain, Mathematics, Statistics or related analytical and/or technical field
  • Demonstrated Continuous Improvement (CI) experience - Lean Six Sigma experience and/or Green Belt.
  • Ability to take multiple inputs and expertly analyze, challenge, interpret, summarize, communicate at all levels of the organization, and leverage to drive cross-functional change
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Hold a high degree of diligence to investigate, attain, and report an accurate demand plan
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem solving skills to drive decisions and build consensus among stakeholders.
  • High level proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel and Access to design and execute complex queries and reporting
  • Experience working with a CRM tool; experience with a plus
  • Experience with Business Intelligence applications (examples: Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Proficiency in Demand Planning Systems – Preferably Demand Works (Smoothie)
