Xylem’s Jabsco brand celebrates 80 years of marine innovation
Hoddesdon, U.K., October 30, 2018 – Xylem (NYSE: XYL) will showcase exciting new marine technologies under its Jabsco and Rule brands, while celebrating Jabsco’s 80th anniversary as a world leader in leisure marine innovation, at the METSTRADE show, Amsterdam, 13-15 November, 2018. Xylem will celebrate this milestone with an exciting new product launch and a much-anticipated product upgrade at the event (booth #01.539): Xylem’s next generation Rule shower drain box, and enhanced and upgraded Rule-Mate III Submersible Pump.
Peter Wright, Director, Engineering and Product Management at Xylem Specialty Flow Control said, “Xylem’s Jabsco and Rule brands continue to set the standard in innovative marine technology. For the past 80 years Jabsco has worked with customers to create solutions to their marine challenges and we continue to do so today. We’re excited to showcase new additions to our portfolio, designed with the close cooperation from the end user and installers.”
Just two-thirds the size of its predecessor, the new-look Rule-Mate III submersible pump will suit compact applications. Three flow models are available (500, 800, 1100 GPH) offering improved flow, a non-return valve and anti-airlock protection. Auto sense technology and a unique back up mode prevent the pump from going into a run-on condition, preventing battery wear while still protecting the vessel and ensuring pump continues to monitor for water even if oil or debris foul the level sensor.
Mr. Wright continued, “True to the trust our customers have in the Rule brand, our enhanced Rule-Mate pumps have been designed to achieve their advertised flow at just 12 volts. While strong pump flows can be easily generated at higher voltages, Rule-Mate III offers peace of mind in its flow ability even down to 12 volts.”
Xylem’s new next-generation shower drain box features new bilge pumps with threaded inlet ports in straight and 90º options, a modular design that accepts both the 35A and 37A SuperSwitch float switch as well as the latest Rule-Mate bilge pump. Other features include a quick-mount foot rail for tight installations, expanded mounting options to all four sides of the box with no mounting screws so servicing and cleaning the sump box is simplified. In addition, a gasketed snap fit lid prevents slosh and spill-over as well as access to the box without any tools.
Founded in Burbank, California, US by Jack Streeter and Art Briggs in 1938, Xylem’s Jabsco brand boasts a rich heritage. From the outset, the brand was focussed on solving customer challenges; the first Jabsco pump, featuring the world’s first flexible impeller, was designed in response to a customer requirement for condensate removal from air conditioning systems. Today, Xylem’s Jabsco brand is focussed on designing solutions for the leisure and commercial boat sectors (7.5 - 25 meters in size).
Jabsco roots are still strong in California with a design centre in Irvine as well as design and manufacturing centres in Hoddesdon, UK; Chihuahua, Mexico; and Nanjing and Shenzhen, China.
