The Role: As a key member of the Research and Development team, the candidate will perform the functions of electrical hardware design, analysis, implementation, circuit board testing, and field testing pertaining to instrumentation development from concept to design and implementation. Circuit board layout, schematics, component selection, test specification, and manufacturing transfer are all responsibilities in this position.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Designing, developing, reviewing, updating, modifying, and approving electrical designs, schematics, PCBs and assembled modules, both internal and third party supplied.
  • Liaising with other engineers to ensure projects are complete to specifications and on time.
  • Establishing relationships with vendors, suppliers, other professionals, and expanding networks.
  • Maintaining and improving existing engineering processes.
  • Participating in conferences, events, and networking and learning opportunities.
  • Drawing up budgets, schedules, company regulations, and various other documents.
  • Analyzing existing processes and scheduling meetings to discuss improvement initiatives.
  • Conducting research, performing diagnostics, and troubleshooting equipment, systems and procedures
  • Ensuring a safe, positive work environment.
  • Product Safety Review Board (PSRB) Site Chair – Ensure products meet safety requirements and that a process exists to identify and address product safety defects with corrective actions, including conducting site audits and bi-annual reporting of results.
  • Interface with SVHC auditor to provide formatted product BOM’s to audit for SVHC substances and ensure component dossier’s are generated for parts that are out of compliance.
  • Conflict Mineral project – Filter product BOM’s to determine components that are within scope for conflict mineral auditing based on their category.
  • Product Compliance Certification for Market Access – Determine the compliance marks required to sell products in various regions and oversee product compliance testing.
  • RoHS Compliance – Ensuring all products comply with the latest RoHS standards.
  • Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Extensive practical experience (7+ years) in research, design and development.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Practical experience with CAD software.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with compliance management and certification.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent motivational skills and multitasking abilities.
  • Previous experience in design and development of schematics and PCBs.
  • Extensive experience working with CAD software for board design like P-CAD, PADS and others
  • Extensive experience working with lab equipment like digital mustimeters, scopes, signal generators, VNAs, spectrum analyzers etc.
  • Great soldering skills and ability to work with small components under microscope.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic boards
  • Knowledge and previous experience documenting, organizing and filing ECs
  • Knowledge in principle of operations of LNAs, PAs, analog and digital filters, PSs etc.
  • Experience researching, selecting, sourcing and buying electronic components for R&D prototyping and BOMs for manufacturing.
  • Knowledge in impedance matching and its practical application in RF designs, high speed PCB design and acoustic transducer design.
  • Knowledge in regulatory agencies requirements around the world
  • Experience in preparing, arranging, conducting with collaboration or without external help all regulatory required tests, measurements and data analysis to pass certification requirements by same agencies.

Salary Range: 
$110,000 - $115,000
