The Role: Xylem Americas seeks to hire a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer that will establish the overall Manufacturing strategy for Sensus/Xylem product lines. The successful candidate will embrace a team-oriented manufacturing-driven environment and will bring experience designing, implementing and sustaining Manufacturing Product/Processes.
Essential Functions:
- Act as first level escalation point for Manufacturing/Process issues
- DFx (Design For Manufacturability/Assembly)
- Provide hourly capacity per manufacturing Process (including but not limited to time studies and job standardization packages)
- Document and Maintain Manufacturing Process Maps
- Root Cause and Resolve Manufacturing Related Issues
- Lead/Partner with Lean Six Sigma counterparts for Continuous Improvement Initiatives
- Load Routers and other pertinent manufacturing-related data in ERP System
- Initiates and Implement Temporary Manufacturing Specifications
- Manage Engineering Change Notices Release
- Creating/Modifying Manufacturing Work/Rework Instructions
- Process owner for Manufacturing Routings
- Verify initial products and identify manufacturability, design and process deficiencies
- Maintain previously designed and deployed manufacturing equipment and processes, as required
- Continuously refine and improve manufacturing process, methods, and metrics to reduce product cost
- Identify, analyze, and initiate corrective action when product design failures are uncovered by the test and/or process.
- Support new product development initiatives as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience or a MS Degree
- Knowledge of assembly processes
- MS Office software applications
- Strong analytical, technical, problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must have ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently required to communicate orally.
- Ability to use hands and fingers dexterously to operate office equipment.
- Must occasionally lift/ transport up to 25 pounds.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
Work Environment:
- Shop/Job Site: While this position is based in an office setting, there will be daily exposure to a warehouse/shop environment, as this position requires time spent on the production floor.
- Travel: Occasional travel up to 5-10% may be required.
