The Role: Xylem seeks to hire a Continuous Improvement (CI) Manager that will drive creation and execution of the service and rental continuous improvement plans delivering long-term, breakthrough results in the areas of safety, quality, and productivity. Success is measured by the leader’s ability to actively engage teams to achieve tangible results and to educate and enroll others in Waste Elimination and continuous improvement. This position reports directly to the Sr. Director of Continuous Improvement. This role requires up to 50% travel.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:      

  • Drive the development and implementation of Continuous Improvement projects consistent with and in support of the strategic plan and business operating plan.
  • Documents and works with Controller to validate achieved Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Savings.
  • Assist in designing new procedures and methods for operational processes.
  • By utilizing projects charters with deliverables, will work with leaders to identify, modify, and sustain desired changes including reducing waste and improving inefficiencies.
  • Mentor others to realize benefits from all continuous improvement initiatives and act as a change agent to the site/organization.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement via idea generation and prioritize improvement opportunities with the management team.
  • Lead projects and initiatives from idea generation to strategic execution. Provide strategic insight and evaluation of the organization’s progression.
  • Act as a mentor for the Continuous Improvement leadership, supervisory staff, and frontline personnel.
  • Participate in developing and influencing strategy, planning, and execution depending on project or initiative needs.
  • Lead goal setting, assignment of projects, review of progress, approval, and feedback for direct report(s).
  • KPI goal setting with the site via semi-annual Business Assessment, reporting and leading site reporting for KPI’s.  Monthly updates on LSS resource, engagement, activities, etc.
  • Be a change agent: challenge organizational leaders to drive continuous improvements; remove organizational barriers to continuous improvement processes.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Lean training initiatives.
  • Aid in the development of the ACT LSS strategy and ACT XPS for Service strategy.
  • Carry out special assignments and other duties as needed.
  • Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • BS/BA degree, BS Engineering or related discipline or equivalent field.
  • Minimum 8+ years of successful leadership in executing continuous improvement / Lean / Six Sigma efforts and enabling efficiency, effectiveness resulting in demonstrable tangible financial benefit
  • Green Belt certification required; Black Belt preferred
  • Must have thorough understanding of cycle time reduction, waste reduction, yield improvement, productivity, and throughput improvement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience using Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement methods (LEAN, TPM, Six Sigma).
  • Proven leadership skills to coach and lead teams to fully deliver chartered objectives and projects.
  • Must have excellent project management skills.
  • Advanced problem-solving capabilities, attention to detail and numerical aptitude.
  • Communication skills with strong English both written and spoken.
  • Manager/Supervisor of direct reports experience desired.
  • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite, MS Teams.

  • Be a self-starter with excellent organizational skills in planning and organizing to handle multiple tasks
  • Advanced problem-solving capabilities, attention to detail and numerical aptitude.
  • Demonstrated experience with ensuring effective Change Management development and execution
  • Comfortable with ambiguity
  • Ability to coach / mentor / inspire team of direct and indirect reports.

  • Office: Standard office equipment; work usually performed in an office setting free from any disagreeable elements.
  • Manufacturing floor: work performed within manufacturing production areas such as assembly lines, fabrication, welding, etc.
  • Standard weekly job hours: 40 hours
  • Work hours may keep individual after hours or be required to work weekends based on production demand and schedule.

Further, if the Company determines this role may be performed in or from Colorado, the salary range is $110,000 to $135,000  plus bonus. Final compensation will be dependent on various factors such as location, qualifications, certifications, relevant work experience and other factors, consistent with applicable law. We offer a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, Vision plans, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement.
