Role at Xylem

Dave Flinton is Chief Innovation, Technology and Product Management Officer where he leads the company’s technology and innovation strategy and global product portfolio. In this role, Dave and his team develop and commercialize advanced technologies and innovations that create sustainable benefits for customers and communities. He and his team also lead Xylem’s external innovation efforts, bringing together a broad and global network of innovation partners to incubate and accelerate development of emerging and breakthrough solutions.

Professional Background

Dave has been with Xylem since its founding and has more than 25 years of business leadership, product management and innovation experience, including:

  • Board of Directors, Faradyne Motors
  • Interim Senior Vice President and President of Xylem’s Water Infrastructure segment and European Commercial Team
  • Senior Vice President and President of Xylem’s dewatering business
  • Vice President, Engineering and Marketing for Xylem’s Applied Water Systems (AWS) segment 
  • Vice President, Strategy and IMS for Xylem’s former Water Solutions division in Sundbyberg, Sweden
  • Earlier in his career, Dave spent 10 years in a series of increasingly responsible positions in ITT’s Industrial Products group in Seneca Falls, New York. He also held various engineering and commercial positions for Procter & Gamble and Werner Process Equipment

Community Impact

Dave is passionate about attracting and developing strong technical talent for the water sector. He sponsors several related programs within Xylem from early in career development and rotational programs to the Xylem Technical Track. He also engages externally through Watermark, the Xylem Ignite Global Student Innovation Challenge and several university partnerships to mobilize the next generation of water leaders.
