Xylem was tasked with designing a seep collection system to collect water from a low volume seep through the wall of a decommissioned fly ash pond. The sump was located in an active river floodplain that flooded with as little as 1-2 inches of rain, so the customer needed an automatic shutdown when the river covered the sump.

A North American power utility needed to dewater wet fly ash ponds at sites without permanent power. Xylem engineers created a modular system that combined different products into a single streamlined solution.

One of the largest global energy exploration companies faced the challenge of drawing source water among the steep slopes of Northern Pennsylvania. The water had to be drawn from a 30-feet deep wet well beside a creek and then pumped 300-feet vertically out of a ravine into the impoundment pond.
