Claudia Toussaint to join Xylem as General Counsel

RYE BROOK, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep. 16, 2014-- Xylem Inc. (NYSE:XYL), a leading global water technology company dedicated to solving the world’s most challenging water issues, today announced the appointment of Claudia Toussaint as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, effective October 29, 2014. She will report directly to President and Chief Executive Officer Patrick Decker, and her nomination to become a corporate officer of Xylem will be presented to the company's board of directors on October 15, 2014.

Toussaint, 51, has served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of the Barnes Group Inc. (NYSE: B), an international industrial and aerospace manufacturer and service provider, for more than four years. At Barnes, she was a member of the executive leadership team, led the legal, compliance and health safety & environmental affairs functions and was the senior executive sponsor for the integration of Barnes’ most recent acquisition.

Prior to her role at Barnes, she worked at Embarq, a Fortune 500 telecommunications company, as General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Chief Ethics Officer before its acquisition by CenturyLink. She also held a number of positions of increasing responsibility at Sprint Nextel's predecessor Fortune 100 companies. She started her career in Los Angeles as a transactional attorney at Morrison & Foerster, an international law firm.

Toussaint received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her Juris Doctor degree from University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in San Francisco. She grew up in Germany and attended law school at the Juristische Fakultät of the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität in Heidelberg, Germany.
