Webinar: Wave and Current Measurements - Selecting the Right Methods

Join us July 15th, 2PM (SGP)

Aanderaa (a Xylem brand) offers three different methods to measure waves:

  1. Buoys, with the accelerometer based MOTUS sensor.
  2. Underwater installations where the acoustic Doppler Current Profiling Sensor automatically switch between broad band and narrow band to optimise wave direction and wave height data quality.
  3. The ultrasensitive, compact, pressure based wave sensor provides cm wave height information from 40 m depth.

In this presentation the three different methods will be compared with each other and with dedicated wave buoys. Their advantages and shortcomings will be discussed and best practices to measure waves and currents from floating platforms and underwater installations will be presented.

Dr. Anders Tengberg will cover the following topics:

  • Accelorometer based wave measurements
  • Acosutic Doppler based Wave Measurements
  • Pressure based wave measurements
  • Applications and inter comparisons from the field
  • Current measurements from buoys in high seastate
  • New sensors from Aandera in 2021
