Confectionery manufacturer expands its operations with ADI-BVF® reactor
The confectionery manufacturer, located in Virginia, was faced with having to establish on-site wastewater pretreatment at its facility. A planned expansion and an overloaded publicly owned treatment works (POTW) led local authorities to require wastewater pretreatment in order to meet discharge limits of 250 mg/l for both biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and total suspended solids (TSS).

Confectionery upgrades wastewater treatment system
An ADI Systems client was equipped with an anaerobic wastewater treatment system that consisted of an equalization tank, three hybrid anaerobic reactors, a degas tower, and a clarifier. This system was not meeting the client’s needs, as it was only removing approximately 60% of the BOD. Sludge settleability and odor issues in the open clarifier also presented a problem.

Award-Winning Wastewater Treatment Project Completed at Recycle Paper Mill
Shanghai Xinlun Paper was upgrading its pulping and paper-making process. As this was taking place, new regulations came into effect that required the mill to invest in secondary wastewater treatment so it could meet stringent effluent limits of 100 mg/l chemical oxygen demand (COD), 30 mg/l biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), and 200 mg/l total suspended solids (TSS).
