THE ROLE: The Sales Development Manager will be responsible for growing consultancy sales in North America.  In this role, the incumbent will preferably live in one of our customer hubs of Chicago, Atlanta, or Boston. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:  To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   

  • Responsible for developing, progressing, and growing the complete sales pipeline for Sentec’s consultancy services in North America.
  • Responsible for achieving agreed sales targets.
  • Successfully deliver all steps of the sales pipeline.
  • Work with the Sentec new business development team (based in the UK) to identify relevant companies and segments for our consultancy services.
  • Identify and visit relevant tradeshows and conferences in the USA to prospect for potential clients.
  • Reach out to target companies and obtain useful meetings.
  • Professionally present and explain the benefits of Sentec's consultancy offering to R&D teams and at board level (e.g., CTO).
  • Work closely with the Sentec team on sales projects. Ability to project manage a sale and to organize Sentec team members to provide relevant technical expertise and support.
  • Manage communications and long-term relationships with key accounts.
  • Ability to self-organize, self-motivate, and operate remotely from main team.
  • Comfortable working with colleagues in different time zones.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in Engineering or other technical subject
  • Five years proven experience in selling Technical and Product Development Consultancy
  • Experience in the complete sales pipeline: prospecting to close to account management
  • Ability to understand complex systems and technical situations
  • Familiarity with R&D development processes
  • Self-starter capable of coordinating technical teams to prepare customer presentations and lead sales projects
  • Excellent communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Able to spend 30% - 50% travelling in North America. Some international travel required.
  • Ability to manage and organize multiple priorities in a poised, self-driven manner.
SALARY:

The estimated salary range for this position is $135K
 to $165K plus bonus.   Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.  At Xylem we offer a competitive compensation package with a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, Vision plans, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement.
