Through a local partnership, Xylem is in the process of establishing a production facility in Egypt, where selected product lines of the Xylem portfolio will be locally manufactured. We are in search to appoint a General Manager that will be responsible for the setup, startup and ramp up to full production for this new production facility.

The General Manager will be accountable for the manufacturing and production process within the facility, ensuring that all production lines run efficiently and with minimum downtime. Working together with the management and production team to ensure that the products are manufactured to Xylem quality standards and adheres to local and Xylem safety and industry-related regulations.


Main goals are:

  • The GM is responsible for the effective setup and roll out of the new entity in line with all stakeholder objectives
  • The GM is responsible for effective planning, delegating, coordination, staffing, organizing, and decision making to attain desirable profit-making results and lead the organizations to a higher commercial and technical maturity level
  • Responsible for P&L, including the preparation of management and financial reports
  • Responsible for the strategic management and day-to-day operations.
  • Promote revenue, profitability and growth in the organization
  • Ensure the implementation of SHEQ policies and procedures in line with Xylem standards
  • Driving growth through the improvement and acceleration of the support to existing distributors
  • Planning, coordination and management of internal and external stakeholders to align with Xylem strategic goals
  • Structures the Production & Technical activities of the operations to provide the capacity and capability to achieve the strategic requirements by ensuring that the structure is effective, efficient, and ensuring that business expectations are delivered on time.
  • Develops and creates innovative initiatives, strategies and policies aligned with organizational goals to enhance internal efficiency and effectiveness
  • Integrating the entity in line with Xylem Ethics/Compliance/Governing industry & fiscal laws and policies


  • Lead, direct, delegate and control the activities of the region and local business units in order to achieve the short and long-term financial and operating objectives of this organization as set by the overall corporate business plans.
  • Oversee, monitor and evaluate the operation's performance.
  • Recruit, onboard, and train high-performing employees to achieve sales, profitability, market share, and business plan objectives
  • Review, Mentor and improve organizational effectiveness by developing processes, overseeing employees, establishing a highly motivated work environment, and creating innovative approaches for improvement
  • Direct the preparation of operating budgets and proposals for capital expenditures and investments in infrastructure, technology, equipment, systems, or other assets and resources; analyze and approve operational investment proposals that best meet the organization’s business needs within approval limits or make recommendations to the top management team.
  • Coordinate the opening or closing of facilities and the administrative and operational aspects of mergers and acquisitions so that these activities are completed on time and within budget and with minimal disruption to the organization’s day-to-day operations.
  • Lead, guide, evaluate and develop a team of senior managers with operational responsibilities to ensure that the organization achieves it business objectives and complies with all relevant regulations and laws.


    Internal: reporting sales companies, regional management, HQ management, Tiba

    External: customers, distributors, consultants, industry governing authorities & regulators


    • An Engineering, Manufacturing or Operations Management degree strongly preferred
    • Knowledge in plant operation and Supply Chain is highly advantageous
    • Post-Graduate qualification in Business Administration advantageous
    • Good awareness of SHEQ fundamental principles
    • Familiarity with standard engineering contracts terms & conditions
    • Proven experience in a managerial role
    • Must have strong analytical and decision-making capabilities
    • Ability to motivate and lead people, and hold employees accountable
    • Must have high appreciation for the concepts of Lean Six Sigma for continuous business improvement and high performance
    • Ability to demonstrate business acumen with highly developed communication and presentation skills
    • Ability to tolerate high level of stress


    • From 15 to 20 years of experience in a B2B environment with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role
    • Experience in a multinational and matrix organization
    • Has experience of business in Africa; this would include having worked and lived in the region will be advantageous
    • Track record in handling a mix of project and distribution sales internationally
    • Knowledge of Xylem products will be an advantage
    • Fluent Arabic speaker. Good command of English language both spoken and written. French language is an advantage.
