The Role: Xylem seeks to hire a Manager, Quality Analysis/Quality Control, for the Xylem-AWS-Lubbock, Texas facility. As a member of the AWS-Lubbock Leadership Team, Manager, Quality Analysis/Quality Control is responsible for establishing a culture of quality awareness within the Operation, inclusive of the Plant, Foundry, and remote warehouse locations, while directing the Quality organization towards the most appropriate, state of the art quality techniques and programs. Responsibility for evaluating all customer and supplier warranty issues. Candidate will work to support the operation to adhere to quality standards by implementing Best Practices under the direction of the AWS-Lubbock Site Director and align the Quality Department with the oversight of the AWS-Director of Corporate Responsibility and Quality.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:                        

  • ISO 9001 certification maintenance at applicable facilities.
  • Reduction in Scrap and Rework as well as improvement in Supplier Quality Performance.
  • Successful QA and ISO Internal Audit completion and effective problem resolution.
  • Effective QA planning supporting defect-free introduction of new products.
  • Product and process improvements using DMAIC methodology. .
  • Own and continuously improve the supplier Quality System including requirements definition and assessment process.  Develop, deploy and maintain effective supplier ship-to-stock process.
  • Provide technical support to deploy statistical process control of work-in-process.
  • Develop and maintain effective quality processes for monitoring and improving operations performance through quality audits, scrap reduction and process or product non-conformity resolution.
  • Create and implement effective quality plans supporting new product development and enabling improved product release, life cycle reliability and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop the QA department’s technical skills to identify and assist in the resolution of customer complaints / opportunities.
  • Identify product and process improvement opportunities which result in sustained reduction in scrap, rework, and warranty costs.  Work closely with operations to ensure improvement opportunities are understood, investigated, and effectively implemented.
  • Develop and maintain working relationship with all required plant organizations to ensure adequate communications and support to and from all departments. 
  • Manage the Preventative and Corrective Action System for the operation ensuring sufficient resources are employed in relation to the size of the problem and that root causes are identified and eliminated.
  • Oversee the internal quality audit function, ensuring the audits are comprehensive, timely, and effective.  Maintain quality indicators and inform staff of variances.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering, Business, or technical required or equivalent plus 
  • Minimum of 8 years related experience in Quality, Manufacturing, or Engineering fields including management skills in a Quality role.
  • Experience in Quality programs
  • Experience in Rotating equipment design and quality system development
  • Familiarity with all facets of operations and engineering processes
  • Strong math, computer, and engineering skills required.
  • Ability to read print drawings and disseminate technical information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Should have a strong ISO 9000 background, statistical techniques, gauging and calibration, SPC, inspection systems, and knowledge of the basics of quality management systems.
  • Experience in a machine shop environment, with mechanical ability, and drafting experience preferred.
  • Capable of reading and understanding mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical drawings, diagrams, schematics and other design related documents.
  • ASQ-CQE preferred
  • Excellent computer skills (including, but not limited to: Windows, Office, Visio, Project Manager, and Internet)
  • Work independently and proactively

  • Medium lifting (25-35 lbs.), shop and office combined environment
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about the facility

  • Office: Standard office equipment; work usually performed in an office setting free from any disagreeable elements.
  • Shop: Rotating equipment which may also include water and electrical components in use.  Safety protocols and PPE to be closely observed.
  • Standard weekly job hours: 40 hours with extended hours as required to meet customer requirements
