At Xylem, we recognize the power of diversity and inclusion in driving innovation and allowing us to compete more effectively around the world. With more than 16,000 employees at work in 150 countries our culture is global and diverse. We are committed to a workplace that creates a sense of belonging for everyone - where everyone feels involved, respected, valued and connected, and where everyone is free to bring their authentic selves and ideas. Our culture of inclusion fosters innovation, creating expertise and cutting-edge technologies to help water operators and communities around the world address the growing water challenges they face.

D&I and Sustainability

Xylem is committed to advancing sustainability by serving our customers, building a sustainable company and empowering communities – and we believe diversity and inclusion is a critical catalyst.   Innovation is essential for Xylem to solve the greatest water and critical infrastructure challenges of our time. The best way for us to achieve this aim and serve our stakeholders is to develop a world-class culture that taps into the power of D&I. Bringing together people from different backgrounds and cultures, with different perspectives, talents and experiences, sparks new ideas and different ways of seeing and solving problems. Innovation, in turn, leads to better products and services for our customers and enables Xylem to deliver proactive, efficient and sustainable solutions that protect the environment and address water scarcity, affordability, and the resilience of communities.

D&I is also critical to building a sustainable company. We are passionate about increasing diversity in our workforce, in part because workforce diversity is a powerful draw for attracting the next generation of leaders and top talent to Xylem careers. Diversity in our teams also helps us strengthen relationships with our customers and communities as we increasingly reflect the diversity of those we serve, and helps us better understand different perspectives from stakeholders, end-users, and customers. This helps us build trust, grow relationships, gain support, and understand and solve problems faster – across markets and cultures, around the world.

Global Diversity & Inclusion Council

Xylem’s Global Diversity and Inclusion Council exists to raise awareness, promote the benefits of inclusion and diversity, support implementation of practices, establish metrics, and monitor and engage with senior leadership on progress. With the support of our executive sponsors, this global council meets monthly to collaborate, plan and advance diversity and inclusion at Xylem.

"At Xylem, we know that inclusion and diversity, and the strong cross-section of ideas and perspectives it enables, is vital to building a culture of innovation. We work every day to create an environment that welcomes ideas, values diverse thinking and recognizes the unique perspectives and experiences of every employee."

International Women’s Day

Celebrated on March 8th, International Women’s Day is a global day of recognition of women's achievements and a call to action to support women's rights and advance gender equality.

In 2020, Xylem colleagues around the world embraced the #ChoosetoChallenge International Women’s Day theme helping to raise awareness about gender parity by participating in virtual events, posting photos and videos to social media, and listening to guest speakers.

Xylem also proudly featured female innovators who focus on leveraging digital technologies to reshape water management in our Making Waves article “Women Shaping the Next Generation of Water Solutions
