The CNC Repair/Maintenance Engineering Technician will be responsible to drive a continuous improvement philosophy (human, material, intellectual and financial). The main responsibilities are to minimize production downtime through maintenance activities of all equipment and tools. Secure machine performance and extend machine life through management of preventive, predictive maintenance programs. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Provide and demonstrate safe work practices. Follow all safety procedures and policies.
  • Maintain communication with production supervisors, machine operators, managers, and other support personnel.
  • Utilize the CMMS to maintain all facility assets – to include Asset Management, PMs, Emergency Work Orders, and Inventory issuing and replenishment.
  • Facilitate procurement of all necessary maintenance supplies and critical spare parts for the facility.
  • Inspect work completed by maintenance technicians to ensure all tasks are completed in a workmanship like manor and according to industry and compliance standards.  This position also provides training and guidance to less experienced technicians.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of mechanical and electrical repairs for the facility.
  • Maintain all equipment documentation, manuals, drawings, software backups or other reference literature in a technical library for historical use.  Must maintain an electronic backup of all possible items.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.  Demonstrate the Accept Only Zero safety philosophy.
  • Assist and/or lead kaizen improvement activities focused on safety, quality, and cost initiatives.
  • Ensure departmental compliance in accordance with ISO standards.
  • Supporting the team in trouble shooting day to day maintenance activities in the plant.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering Technology plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Must possess experience in a leadership role.
  • Proficient computer skills and the ability to use various software applications in the performance of their duties (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other PC based software applications that may be required).
  • Strong CNC repair and maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Strong electrical/electronic automation and PLC experience is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a high degree of personal initiative.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.

DAY IN THE LIFE: In this role, the working environment is both an indoor climate-controlled office and plant manufacturing environment. The physical demands may include but are not limited to occasionally lifting up to 35 pounds, and prolonged exposure to indoor and outdoor environments.
