Performance under pressure: treating zinc from a retention pond

An ADI Systems client was equipped with an anaerobic wastewater treatment system that consisted of an equalization tank, three hybrid anaerobic reactors, a degas tower, and a clarifier. This system was not meeting the client’s needs, as it was only removing approximately 60% of the BOD. Sludge settleability and odor issues in the open clarifier also presented a problem.

German sugar factory controls cooling circuit disinfection
Südzucker produces 5.4 million tons of sugar a year. Situated in Obrigheim, located in the Palatinate region, the Offstein Sugar Factory is one of the largest and oldest of nine sugar factories in Germany. Yearly, 1.4 to 1.8 million tons of sugar beets are processed. During the harvesting campaign (September to December), this is about 16,000 tons of beets daily - around the clock. Syrup and sugar are produced from the beets.

Kellogg Company upgrades its Pikeville wastewater facility
ADI Systems first started providing wastewater treatment solutions to the Kellogg Company Pikeville Plant (formerly Mountaintop Baking) in Kimper, Kentucky, USA, in the late 1990s. In 1999–2000, ADI Systems was awarded a design/build contract to upgrade the wastewater treatment system due to production expansion at the plant.
