Filtration units that utilize membranes include:

• Reverse osmosis,
• Nanofiltration and
• Ultrafiltration systems.

Xylem has several membrane cleaning services for customers with different maintenance needs.

1. Onsite membrane cleaning
   • This is the process of recirculating high and low PH cleaners through a membrane system (RO, NF, UF) to restore membrane performance.
   • This is done onsite with existing cleaning skid.
     
     
2. Offsite Membrane cleaning
   • When a customer does not have a cleaning skid membranes can be cleaned offsite at Xylem regeneration sites or at Evoqua-contracted 3rd party sites
   • Membranes can be tested pre and post for performance and come with a cleaning report.
   • Membranes can also be preserved for future use.
     
     
3. Membrane Replacement
   • Removal and replacement of RO, UF, and NF due to inferior performance.
   • After membranes are replaced system flow and pressure will be normalized to startup conditions and data will be recorded
