SonTek HydroSurveyor Software

One of the key components that makes up the HydroSurveyor system is the HydroSurveyor Software.The HydroSurveyor software package offers a central recording and processing platform that allows users to develop bathymetric maps with modest accuracy, using properly gridded data points—a function that is fully embedded in the software and automated. The HydroSurveyor software was built from the ground up to be powerful, yet user-friendly.  The software offers the following key features and advantages.

• CastAway-CTD Integration – One of the great advantages of the HydroSurveyor software is its seamless integration with the CastAway-CTD system for automatic sound speed compensation of depth and velocity data.  The data are interpolated in space AND time!  With accurate sound speed corrections, your survey data will be of the utmost quality.
• Data Gridding and Interpolation – Bathymetric data are only effectively used when the data points fall on a uniform grid.  The HydroSurveyor software includes an embedded utility that automatically processes all depth soundings collected along irregular paths, interpolating them such that they generate a uniformly-spaced grid with user-selected intervals.
• Automatic Track Switching – Using a GPS to track the boat's speed and direction is a robust solution, but what happens when you go under a bridge or tree canopy and you lose GPS signal?  With the HydroSurveyor, two solutions for boat tracking are available (GPS and Bottom-Track) and the software automatically switches between them to guarantee data integrity.
• User-friendly interface – The HydroSurveyor software contains several windows and options to visualize the data both as it is being collected and in post-processing, as well as allows for setup and configuration of the instrument for data acquisition.  The software offers an intuitive and flexible interface for visualizing data from multiple sources.
• Central Recording Platform – Because hydrographic surveying inherently utilizes data from multiple sources, the HydroSurveyor software has embedded functions for connecting with ease to external devices (such as GPS), but also for synchronizing all the data to a set GPS-based time stamp.

IMPORTANT: The HydroSurveyor software is both graphically demanding and computationally intensive. As such, SonTek recommends a computer that will meet the recommended specifications above. If using a computer with just the minimum requirements, note that system performance will be limited.
