Sector limitation in 2D
The system monitors and will warn the operator if the crane approaches the slew limits: the Clockwise (CW) limit or the Counter Clockwise (CCW) limit.

Sector limitation in 3D
A boom angle sensor is incorporated into the system and will act as the sector limitation described above with an additional two boom angle limits programmed. The crane can then pass through a defined sector if the boom angle is above or below pre-programmed angle limits. Several sectors, defined by a the CW, CCW, High Boom Angle and Low Boom Angle, unique for each sector, can be programmed mapping critical deck area and showing the available deck space and the programmed "No-Go-Zones".

Maximum slew position protection
Some cranes have no electrical slip ring and use cables to the motors and other parts of the crane. In these cases it is critical to keep track of the slew position. If not the cabling running up to the crane can be damaged due to twisting with consequential damage to the crane, crane system and personnel. The OLM system will memorize the slew position and warn the operator if the maximum travel limit or revolutions are reached.

Anti-collision
The feature above may be programmed to act as an anti-collision system. If two cranes (or more) work within the same deck area, the system will limit the operation to avoid more than one crane operating in the "over-lapping" area at any one time. This feature requires a signal between the cranes.

Boom Over the Sea
The boom/hook position, defined by slew and boom angle, will define if the crane is working over the sea. This may activate special safety settings in the crane control, select dynamic sea duty and assist in correct MOPS/AOPS settings.

The Mipeg X is expandable and may, by uploading new system software, adding sensors and logic modules, function as a system which:

  • Maps critical deck area and shows the available deck space

  • Protects assets and personnel

  • Avoid collision with fixed structures through slew and boom limits by creating multiple "no-go zones"

  • Keeps track of maximum slew position/#turns when a slip ring is not in use

  • Keeps track of the "boom over the sea" position

  • Kicks out relays to interface to crane control logic

The operator will have all the key critical slew and boom angle parameters displayed and the full color graphical display will give a clear visual indication of the crane as well as the boom position in reference to critical sectors.

The 15" color touch screen will show the OLM feature when selected by the operator. The alarms and interface to crane logic and control will always work even when not displayed.
