What-is-plogging.png

WHAT IS PLOGGING.png

Plogging describes the activity of picking up rubbish while jogging. Its name is a mashup of the Swedish term plocka upp, meaning 'to pick up' and jogging...

Plogging has the great dual benefit of helping you to stay fit, while preventing trash from polluting local waterways.

Here's a few pointers to help you plan you own safe and effective plogging event!

  1. Recruit your family and friends to join as fellow ploggers
  2. Decide on a date, time and map out a plogging patch to cover
  3. Make sure to plog in a public space - if in doubt check with your local council
  4. Give a shoutout on your social channels to get more Water Heroes to join your squad
  5. Wear gloves as protection, and be sure to wash your hands

Make sure it isn't a rubbish day... avoid picking up sharp obects, and pay attention to road crossings.

Good luck team!

READY WATER HEROES.png

This ‘seed to bloom’ activity is something that can help teach kids the importance of water for life and growth. It will show you how to plant a seed (or several!) on World Water Day, to see the plant bloom by Earth Day a month later. And if you’ve got some extra time before then, why not get started and plant your seeds today!

JOIN THE RIVER & STR.png

Millions of tons of rubbish ends up in rivers every year, caused by people littering and illegal dumping. This can contaminate drinking water sources and threaten the wildlife that depends on it.

Play your part for Water Heroes FC by taking part in a cleanup to preserve your local water resources.

Search online to find one in your area. Then let other Water Heroes know using #WaterHeroesFC and #LetsSolveWater

If you can’t find one, or fancy setting up your own:

   •  Partner with a local conservationist organisation
   •  Recruit a few volunteers to help plan the event
   •  Identify a local polluted water site
   •  Determine a date and time for the event
   •  Use social media to spread the word
   •  Contact waste management companies for litter pickups
   •  On the day, post photos and updates using #WaterHeroesFC and #LetsSolveWater
