The Role: Test, Inspect and troubleshoot purchased and manufactured parts to meet specifications and oversee non-conforming part process and Inv levels. Review trends & facilitate corrective actions for non-repeat quality issues.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Perform component level testing, troubleshooting, and repairing of printed circuit board assemblies and Mechanical parts at Incoming and Process Inspection points
  • Read and interpret schematic diagrams, test procedures and technical drawings to test PCA’s (Printed Circuit Assemblies) and components and upon failure be able to troubleshoot to component level and find root case of the failure in order to process and correct the failure.
  • Enter data into NCMR data base and Oracle ERP.
  • Run, maintain & report:  NCMR/MRB Report, NCMR Supplier Late Report & Scrap Report
  • Run MRB & NCMR weekly reports to distribute to engineering & suppliers for task completion status
  • Help keep MRB inventory dollars down by processing NCMR in a timely manner
  • Call supplier meetings as needed for issue resolution
  • Once approved complete repairs, perform testing to verify repair results for the final inspection and sign-off
  • Maintain corrective action system and assure resolution of failures
  • Manage Material Review Board inventory levels and resolve issues to minimize inventory levels
  • Work with suppliers, production staff & engineers to obtain proper corrective actions for failures to prevent re-occurrence
  • Run month-end reports for monthly performance metrics due such as the Overall Quality Score, Supplier DPPM, DPPH, MRB dollar totals, Inspection turn-around days & scrap dollars.
  • Help mgmt. set scrap rate percentages by commodity, review them monthly & notify mgmt. when they are close to budgeted amount
  • Identifying and resolving inventory issues as they arise
  • Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Assoc Degree or equivalent ORa minimum of 3+ years’ experience as a test technician in an electronic manufacturing environment.
  • 3 + years’ experience working as a Quality Technician in manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of electronic circuits, components, IC’s in analog and digital circuits is required
  • Must have experience in working from schematics, mechanical assembly drawings
  • Must have experience utilizing measuring instruments, oscilloscopes, function generators, digital multi-meters and hand tools, such as, hand crimpers, screwdrivers, wrenches and pliers.
  • Tests, troubleshoots, and repairs complex digital and analog circuits down to the component level utilizing electronics troubleshooting techniques following established quality processes, standards, and safety regulations
  • Must be skilled in SMT soldering and rework
  • PC literate; proficient with Microsoft programs, especially Excel and Word; able to gain proficiency with Oracle database
  • Work with various levels within the organization on priorities
  • Ability to work and contribute effectively both in a team and as an individual.
  • Proactive identification of problems with demonstrated leadership of a team to determine root cause and implement a resolution
  • Able to produce work to tight deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Self-starter / task ownership, able to bring projects to completion
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to explain and understand problems and ideas. Communicate with suppliers via phone or email when required to clarify repairs and answer questions
  • Takes initiative to create and implement plans
  • Professional image projection to customers and suppliers
  • Strong organizational skills and writing ability
  • Makes decisions based on evidence and not speculation
