Xylem's Smith-Blair 418 Bolted Tee Coupling with threaded outlet meets applicable AWWA C219 Standards and makes size-on-size connections a breeze. The coupling allows for limited expansion and contraction and will dampen vibration to reduce pipe fatigue. Easy to install because no special pipe end preparation is required, and the coupling portion has good deflection capabilities, allows change in piping direction.

Key Product Features

  • Join plain-end pipe of same outside diameters
  • Tap Outlet sizes 3/4” thru 2”

The Smith-Blair 418 coupling is designed to provide a bolted coupling with a threaded branch outlet. This coupling is utilized for joining, repairing, and tapping applications on plain-end pipe of the same outside diameters with tap outlet sizes 3/4" thru 2". The coupling portion has good deflection capabilities, which allows for change in piping direction.

The 418 tee coupling features a tee sleeve constructed from ASTM A536, ASTM A512 or Carbon Steel having minimum yield of 30,000 PSI. The follower is manufactured from Ductile Iron ASTM A536, Steel AISI C 1020, or A715 Grade 80 HSLA Steel, designed for a high strength to weight ratio with follower thickness determined by coupling size. The gasket is Nitrile (Buna N) NSF 61 compounded to produce superior storage and performance characteristics while resisting water, acids, alkalies, most (aliphatic) hydrocarbon fluids, and other chemicals with a temperature range of -20°F to 180°F. Bolts and nuts are high strength, low alloy Steel with heavy semi-finished hexagon nuts with Stainless Steel optional, and the finish is Flexi-Coat® Fusion Bonded Epoxy Finish.

The 418 operates at working pressure up to 150 PSI and is suitable for pipe applications including Steel, PVC, Cast Iron, Asbestos Cement, and others. The coupling meets applicable AWWA C219 Standards and makes size-on-size connections a breeze while allowing for limited expansion and contraction. It will dampen vibration to reduce pipe fatigue and is easy to install because no special pipe end preparation is required.

This product does not restrain pipe movement. Proper anchoring is required to prevent pipe pullout. Failure to anchor or improper anchoring can result in dangerous pipe content escape, property damage, serious injury, or death. Users must read the product installation instructions prior to installing this product.
