Winning Projects

1st place - UpLift: Urban Predictive Learning Implemented Flood Tracking
UpLift uses machine learning to predict flooding severity. Users are able to input discharge, gauge height and rainfall values into its application to contribute to predictions. The application also explains for the terminology and allows for community input to promote awareness and engagement.

2nd place – ReHydro
ReHydro’s project tackles the hydroponics to make it more feasible, environmentally-friendly and profitable for rice production. Their solution is three-pronged: the enhancement of water purification systems, machinery for large-scale farming and an improved water recirculation system.

3rd place – DROPEES
DROPEES is an application wherein young people can play enjoyable water-related games, do real-life tasks applying water protection and conservation, and support water-related organizations by donating. Instead of just lecturing about surface water quality and the essence of protecting water, the game prompts the players to apply their knowledge both in the game and in real-life settings.

1st place – White Oil
White Oil proposes a new system for the lithium mining process. The aim is to form a gravity-driven closed-loop water treatment system using a membrane filter. This energy-efficient system would replaces solar evaporation method, reducing water loss and groundwater contamination from brine.

2nd place – Mars-Water Extraction & Transportation (WET)
Mars-WET builds a comprehensive system for sustaining life on Mars. Major emphasis is placed on water extraction using Rodwells and water management by blockchain technology. They tap into in-situ resource utilization (ISRU) of vital consumables such as oxygen and methane to fulfill human needs and exploration purposes.

3rd place – Mizu Warriors
Mizu Warriors’ solution reduces use of fresh water. The grey water is treated and fed to toilet and flushing systems, as the water quality required is not as same as fresh/RO water. This system helps in reducing the fresh water inlet with simple installation at an economical rate.

Team Oceanus
Team Oceanus’ solution is a plan and a water budget, which outlines the monthly amount of water to be drilled. Their plan for extracting clean water, is through drilling, purifying, transporting water to habitats. For energy and electricity generation, they will use an LFTR and solar panels connected to electric lines. They will build habitat and agriculture domes, ensuring Man CAN survive on Mars.

FloodCast
FloodCast’s solution provides real-time & accurate ML prediction and forecast data to the user through a user-friendly yet informative Microsoft Power BI dashboard, with Twitter as an alert system in a potential flood situation. Therefore, by having this fully-automated solution running in the cloud, the self-sustainable system acts as a preventive measure in combating flood.
