In addition to a Pilot Agreement in Smart Network
ZHENJIANG, CHINA, June 6, 2017 — Xylem Inc., a leading global water technology company, today officially signed a Letter of Intent with Zhenjiang Waterworks Company for strategic cooperation on comprehensive water management technologies, including smart water network, advanced water treatment, water monitoring, intelligent water metering and smart water platform. Patrick Decker, Xylem President and CEO, witnessed the signing of the Agreement that includes a water pipeline leakage monitoring pilot project between the two companies. The Agreement includes two sets of Xylem’s Visenti-branded smart water network management systems and related analysis software for monitoring the 19-kilometer main pipeline near Jinxi Water Plant and 7-kilometer sub-pipelines in Taoyuan village of Zhenjiang. Xylem’s newly acquired Visenti technology is a proven solution to reduce leakage rate, evaluate pipeline status and provide optimized solutions. The installation of this system is expected to sharply decrease water waste and increase operational efficiency. Both parties agree to expand the scope of project if the pilot turns out a success.
Zhenjiang, a city dedicated to low carbon development and a China State pilot of Sponge City, has gone through a series of infrastructure improvements – especially water infrastructure renovation – in recent years. Xylem was selected by the City because of its many successful installations around the world and over a hundred-year history in technology innovation.
“I am very delighted to visit Zhenjiang, a beautiful city famous of Vinegar, and to sign the Letter of Intent with Zhenjiang Water Company,” said Mr. Decker. “I appreciate the wisdom and the passion of Zhenjiang government and leading enterprises as demonstrated by their commitment to build a high-efficiency, low-carbon city. With our Visenti-branded successful installations of smart water networks in Singapore, the Middle East, Australia and Europe, Xylem will fully utilize the technology advantages they offer to support the water infrastructure construction in Zhenjiang.”
Yichun Chen, GM of Zhenjiang Waterworks Company, said, ”The cooperation with Xylem will enable us to meet the targets set by Water Ten, China’s national water pollution control action plan. This is a task benefiting the well-being of our people and the society. I look forward to the fruitful achievements of our cooperation.”
Mr. Hu Jian, Deputy Director of Zhenjiang Housing and Urban-rural Development Bureau delivered a speech at the event. Attendees of the signing ceremony also included other officials from Zhenjiang Housing and Urban-rural Development Bureau, the Water & Waste Water Management Bureau and the senior leadership team of Xylem China.
“We appreciate the support of related government agencies in Zhenjiang in facilitating this cooperation. We admire Zhenjiang government’s far-sightedness and prompt actions in urban development.” said Shuping Lu, President of Xylem China. Acquainted with each other in Zhenjiang International Low Carbon Technology Expo 2016, today Xylem and Zhenjiang Waterworks Company officially agreed to the Letter of Intent for strategic cooperation in comprehensive water management technologies.
Focusing on technology R&D and innovation, Xylem continues to launch new products and solutions to meet its customers’ water needs. With the acquisition of Sensus and Visenti last year, Xylem has significantly expanded its portfolio of offerings in smart water. In May 2017, Xylem China launched AquaTalk, the locally developed smart water platform, which will play a greater role in supporting technology upgrades, improvement in operation efficiency and decreasing operational costs.
