Xylem's Smith-Blair 913 fabricated steel flanged coupling adapter provides a quick means of joining plain end pipe to flanged valves and fittings. Available in straight (913) or reducing (914) styles to fit your needs, this adapter eliminates the need for field fabrications as FCAs work with plain-end pipe to make the flanged connection. The coupling end helps relieve stress, absorb vibration and accept deflection in the piping system.
The Smith-Blair 913 fabricated steel flanged coupling adapter is designed for joining plain end pipe to flanged valves and fittings. This adapter provides a quick means of joining plain end pipe to flanged valves and fittings. Available in straight (913) or reducing (914) styles to fit your needs, FCAs work with plain-end pipe to make the flanged connection. The coupling end helps relieve stress, absorb vibration and accept deflection in the piping system, while optional anchor studs provide joint restraint capability to secure the plain pipe end.
The 913 is constructed with a steel body meeting ASTM A53, ASTM A283 Gr. C or carbon steel having a minimum yield of 30,000 PSI. The flange is ANSI 150 lb. flat face for 3" thru 5" sizes, and AWWA C207 Class D ANSI 150 lb. drilling for 6" and above. The follower is ductile iron ASTM A536 for 3" thru 12" sizes, and heavy rolled steel AISI C1020 for 14" and above. The gasket is nitrile (Buna N) certified to NSF/ANSI 61, compounded to produce superior storage and performance characteristics while resisting water, acids, alkalies, most (aliphatic) hydrocarbon fluids and many other chemicals, with a temperature range of -20°F to +180°F. Bolts and nuts are high strength low alloy steel with heavy semi-finished hexagon nuts to AWWA C-111 (ANSI-A21.11) standards, and the finish is Flexi-Coat®, Fusion-Bonded epoxy per AWWA C213.
The 913 flanged coupling adapter meets applicable AWWA C219 Standards and is pressure rated at 150 PSI +/- working pressure according to design, with working pressure up to 175 PSI depending on size and design. It is suitable for pipe applications including steel, cast iron, ductile iron, asbestos cement, and PVC. Available in sizes 3" and larger. It eliminates the need for field fabrications by providing a ready-to-install solution that works seamlessly with plain-end pipe to make flanged connections. The design allows for quick removal and reinstallation of flanged fittings already in line, reducing installation time and labor costs. With optional anchor studs available to provide joint restraint capability and secure the plain pipe end, the 913 offers both flexibility and security in a wide range of joining applications for plain end pipe to flanged valves and fittings.
