Xylem's Smith-Blair 914 reducing flanged coupling adapter delivers a fabricated steel design that joins plain-end pipe to flanged valves and fittings without the need for field fabrications. Available in straight (913) or reducing (914) styles, the FCA provides a quick means of removing and reinstalling flanged fittings already in line. Optional anchor studs provide joint restraint capability to secure the plain pipe end, while the coupling end helps relieve stress, absorb vibration, and accept deflection in the piping system.

  • Problem Solved: Joins plain-end pipe to flanged valves and fittings
  • Meets applicable AWWA C219 Standards
  • Pressure rated at 150 PSI +/- working pressure according to design
  • Available in straight (913) or reducing (914) styles to fit your needs
  • Provides a quick means of removing and reinstalling flanged fitting already in line
  • Optional anchor studs provide joint restraint capability to secure the plain pipe end
  • No need for field fabrications. FCA's work with plain-end pipe to make the flanged connection
  • Coupling end helps relieve stress, absorb vibration and accept deflection in the piping system

The Smith-Blair 914 is a fabricated steel, reducing flanged coupling adapter designed for joining plain-end pipe to flanged valves and fittings. This reducing style flanged coupling adapter meets applicable AWWA C219 Standards. Available in straight (913) or reducing (914) styles to fit your needs, the FCA provides a quick means of removing and reinstalling flanged fittings already in line. Optional anchor studs provide joint restraint capability to secure the plain pipe end, eliminating the need for field fabrications as FCAs work with plain-end pipe to make the flanged connection. The coupling end helps relieve stress, absorb vibration and accept deflection in the piping system.

The body is constructed of Steel ASTM A53, ASTM A283 Gr. C or Carbon Steel having a minimum yield of 30,000 PSI. The flange specifications vary by size: 3" thru 5" sizes feature ANSI 150 lb. flat face, while 6" and above utilize AWWA C207 Class D ANSI 150 lb. drilling. The follower is made of Ductile Iron ASTM A536 for 3" thru 12" sizes, and heavy rolled Steel AISI C1020 for 14" and above sizes. The gasket is Nitrile (Buna N) Certified to NSF/ANSI 61, compounded to produce superior storage and performance characteristics while resisting water, acids, alkalies, most (aliphatic) hydrocarbon fluids and many other chemicals with a temperature range of -20℉ to +180℉. Bolts and nuts are high strength low alloy Steel with heavy semi-finished hexagon nuts to AWWA C-111 (ANSI-A21.11) standards. The finish is Flexi-Coat®, Fusion-Bonded Epoxy Finish.

  • Application: Joining
  • Type of Pipe: Ductile Iron, Steel, Asbestos Cement, PVC, HDPE*, Other
  • Working Pressure: 3" thru 12" 175 PSI; 14" and larger 150 PSI
  • Nominal Pipe Size: 3" and larger

The 914 reducing flanged coupling adapter has a working pressure of up to 175 PSI, according to size and design. Specifically, 3" thru 12" sizes are rated at 175 PSI, while 14" and larger sizes are rated at 150 PSI. The adapter is suitable for all types of pipe including ductile iron, steel, asbestos cement, PVC, HDPE, and other pipe materials.
