The Role: Xylem seeks an Inventory Management Manager to plan, direct and coordinate all inventory storage, accuracy, and movement in and between all focus factories and warehouses. Work with and act as a liaison between purchasing, receiving, manufacturing, and shipping departments. 

Xylem seeks an Inventory Manager to be responsible for Inventory storage, accuracy, and movement in and between all focus factories and warehouses. Work with and act as a liaison between purchasing, receiving, manufacturing, and shipping departments. Implement inventory control procedures and best practices. Develop awareness of inventory practices throughout the organization. Work with and develop the inventory analyst(s) and cycle count team to support the site inventory goals and production. Investigate root cause and develop/implement process improvements to ensure inventory accuracy and efficient material flow throughout entire material planning and handling processes.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain strategic organization and storage of material on manufacturing floor and throughout focus factories.
  • Manage and solve inventory system settings between warehouses and for outside services, as applicable.
  • Continuously monitor and improve material handling, storage, and movement to maximize safety, efficiency, traceability, and space utilization.
  • Manage inventory for focus factories and warehouses.  Develop and implement process improvements to reduce inventory inaccuracies and simplify the process. 
  • Monitor and analyze negative inventory balances, identify root cause and drive corrective action.
  • Manage Cycle Count Program and Physical Inventory, as applicable.  Track and analyze data to identify trends, root cause, and implement/oversee corrective action.
  • Material setting changes and transactions per Engineering Change Requirements and Notice.
  • Track raw material, finished goods, and E&O inventories.  Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements and cost savings opportunities.  Report on Inventory activities and variances.
  • Drive improvement in FIFO and reduction in E&O.
  • Oversee transaction and return of nonconforming material.
  • Inventory data analysis to drive corrective action and inventory optimization.
  • Provide reports and results of data analysis to senior management.
  • Manage Inventory personnel, training, and distribution of workload.
  • Other duties and Projects as assigned.
  • Participate in an environment focused on continuous improvement & teamwork as it relates to inventory.
  • Assists in training employees, raising awareness of inventory practices and the importance of accuracy.
  • Supervise indirect hourly personnel.  Maintain high morale and good working relationship with bargaining unit.
  • Promote safety awareness and culture.  Work with safety department to ensure safe handling of all material.
  • Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in inventory control, materials, and/or supply chain in a fast paced manufacturing environment
  • Effective leadership skills: The manager needs strong leadership skills to carry out recruiting and hiring; resolving conflicts, and keeping the people motivated enough to work effectively
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Problem solving skills:  must have the ability to anticipate problems and prepare to solve them.
  • Ability to work under pressure and still maintain ideal disposition towards work.
