The Sensus NB-IoT 580N SmartPoint module provides an AMI solution for utilities and water network operators looking to deploy reliable technology to meet their ever-growing data needs. The 580N connects wireless-Mbus (OMS v3 or higher) compatible AMR water meters and connects to NB-IoT cellular infrastructure to enable more frequent and reliable data transmission to the utility’s software solution.

The NB-IoT SmartPoint module supports license-free 433MHz and 868MHz bands to receive the SensusRF or wMBus radio and then uses commercial NB-IoT networks in 3GPP approved bands, for the onward AMI transmission. 

The Sensus NB-IoT SmartPoint module is a bridge between low-power, short- range, radio transmissions from an AMR water meter and an NB-IoT AMI network. Its powerful NB-IoT radio transmitter can broadcast over large distances to existing cellular infrastructure.

The SmartPoint module helps you reduce total cost of ownership by enabling a truly flexible AMI solution; it eliminates the need to build a bespoke AMI network or can be used to complement both new and existing FlexNet® AMI deployments. The SmartPoint future-proofs your metering infrastructure, by providing the ability to retrofit any already installed meters and enabling superior connectivity and data delivery rates. Once the SmartPoint module is installed, its two-way system platform enables firmware, meter sample rates, meter transmission rates, and alarms to be updated remotely, improving your team’s efficiency by avoiding unnecessary trips for field technicians and reducing operational costs.
