Metropolis of Nice: a year transforming water management through a hypervision platform

A year ago, the Metropolis of Nice launched a groundbreaking initiative designed to centralize and unify all its operational data into a single platform. This hypervision platform, based on the Xylem Vue technology, has five core modules: resources, networks, customer relations, modelling, and energy. It acts as a control tower, enabling real-time management, crisis anticipation, and enhanced protection of water resources. The platform’s robust data hub processes around 16,000 variables daily, ensuring secure, reliable, internal data management. It also supports advanced monitoring of alarms, sensors, and hydraulic performance.

The project also benefits from its collaboration with the University of Nice Côte d'Azur which is conducting research on river-groundwater interactions and snowpack evolution, leveraging satellite and field data. In 2026, the project is expected to grow thanks to the deployment of a large number of measuring instruments, including around 100 pressure sensors, various acoustic sensors, and approximately 6,000 smart meters. The final version of the network performance and energy modules will be delivered during the year.

This project is more than a technological upgrade; it is a transformative step for the utility, turning ambitious goals into operational excellence and strengthening the resilience and efficiency of public water services.  This project is funded by the French government as part of the France 2030 initiative, run by ADEME.
