Senior Director, Business Development - Microelectronics
Alan Knapp is the senior director, business development for the microelectronics market at Xylem, where he leads efforts to identify ultrapure water, wastewater, and sustainability challenges facing advanced industrial customers and to develop solutions that support reliable, high-performance manufacturing. In this role, Alan works closely with customers in the semiconductor, nanotechnology, solar energy, high-performance materials and data center markets, helping them manage increasingly stringent water quality, yield, and environmental requirements.
Alan has been with Xylem since 2000, with 41 years of tenure in the water industry. He manages a range of customer-facing roles including key account management and strategic marketing. His experience includes international assignments, notably in Singapore, where he helped develop the semiconductor and solar markets in Asia. He is an active contributor to industry collaboration and SEMI standards development, serving on International Roadmap for Devices and Systems (IRDS) UPW yield committees, participating in SEMI task forces, and co-moderating the GWI Ultrapure Micro Conference. Alan holds a Mechanical Engineering Technologist diploma from Conestoga College in Kitchener, Ontario, and maintains multiple ASME and ISO accreditations. He has authored several technical papers for Ultrapure Water Magazine and the International Water Conference.
