Xylem's Smith-Blair 912 Cast Flanged Coupling Adapter is a cast flanged coupling adapter designed for joining plain-end pipe to flanged valves and fittings. Built with heavy cast Ductile Iron parts for long life and shipped complete including flange bolts, the 912 is engineered to give you a quick means of removing and reinstalling a flanged fitting already in line, or making a new flanged connection, without the need for field fabrications.

Most applications are stab fit, making installation easy with no disassembly required. Additionally, one body per nominal pipe size takes the guesswork out of deciding which body to choose.

The 912 body and follower flange are cast Ductile Iron per ASTM A536; the body's bolt circle, bolt size, and spacing conform to ANSI 150 lb. flange drilling. Follower flanges are color coded by general pipe type(blue for ductile O.D., red for iron pipe size O.D., and gray for Asbestos Cement O.D.) making proper flange selection straightforward in the field. The gasket is Nitrile (Buna-N), certified to NSF/ANSI 61, compounded to produce superior storage and performance characteristics while resisting water, acids, alkalies, most aliphatic hydrocarbon fluids, and other chemicals, with a temperature range of -20°F to +180°F. An O-ring is also Nitrile. Tee bolts and cross bolts are Ductile Iron. Bolts and nuts are Carbon Steel per ASTM A307, electro-galvanized with di-chromate seal; optional 304 Stainless Steel hardware is available. Studs are Carbon Steel per ASTM A193 Grade B7, electro-galvanized with di-chromate seal; optional 304 Stainless Steel studs are available. The standard finish is Flexi-Coat® fusion-bonded epoxy per AWWA C213 for superior corrosion resistance. Paragraph 3: The Smith-Blair 912 is available in nominal pipe sizes from 3" through 12", covering O.D. ranges from 2.85" to 14.20" depending on nominal size and pipe type. Working pressure is up to 250 PSI. Compatible pipe applications include Steel, Cast Iron, Asbestos Cement, Ductile Iron, and PVC. The coupling end helps relieve stress, absorbs vibration, and accepts deflection in the piping system. Optional anchor studs provide joint restraint capability to secure the plain pipe end; anchor stud quantities and pressure ratings vary by size and O.D. range and are installed at the factory on customer request only. The 912 is compatible with Omni Coupling System gaskets — giving your inventory more flexibility across multiple product types. Paragraph 4: The Smith-Blair 912 is certified to NSF/ANSI 61 and NSF/ANSI 372, meets applicable AWWA C219 standards, and its Flexi-Coat® fusion-bonded epoxy coating meets the requirements of AWWA C213. The 912 is also available with studs instead of cross bolts for applications requiring that configuration. Optional 304 Stainless Steel hardware is available for corrosive applications. Gaskets are color coded to match the follower flange they are compatible with, molded directly into the gasket for easy identification.
