Stockholm World Water Week

World Water Week 2024 is centered on water cooperation, for peace and security in its broadest sense. The theme, Bridging Borders: Water for a Peaceful and Sustainable Future, asks us to recognize the regional and global interconnectivity of communities and nations, and underscores the collaborative effort needed to achieve a peaceful and sustainable future.

Xylem is proud to be the Founding Global Sponsor of Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP), the founder of the Stockholm Water Prize (SWP) and a World Water Week participant. The SJWP as well as the SWP are a popular parts of the World Water Week.

Stockholm Water Prize (SWP)

The winner of the SWP is announced every year usually in March in conjunction with World Water Day. A royal prize ceremony is held as part of World Water Week, where the Laureate is honored.

Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP)

SJWP is a competition for students aged 15 to 20 who have developed research projects that can help solve major water challenges. The competition attracts tens of thousands of entries from approximately 35 countries.

The Stockholm Junior Water Prize ceremony has been held annually since 1997, becoming a popular part of the Tuesday at World Water Week. The participants in the final round are winners from nationally-held competitions. Their work are carefully reviewed by a jury of international water experts. The prize is awarded to the winning student or group of students by The Prize’s patron HRH Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden.
